Hell yes!!!   It’s actually the Mid–Festival After Party on Saturday Night (26th March).  This year’s new venue is The Coolum Beach Hotel Beer Garden (of which some of you are very familiar) which is booked out for the event.   For just $20 you get a wide variety of foods and the opportunity to relive the legendary moments of your heats.  Naturally everyone is welcome - competitors, their families and friends, sponsors etc.   Buy tickets on the ‘register now’ page

Registrations close on the 19th March (two weeks prior to the event).   If your plans change and you can no longer make the event you can withdraw and get a full refund before COB 14th March (5pm QLD time).  After that date, you will need to contact us about your individual circumstances as we will have already commenced scheduling.

We invite everyone to a informal group whomp session (approx. 3.30 pm) at First Bay near Coolum – a very picturesque location about 500m south of the Coolum SLSC over the headland.  That evening, all are welcome to renew friendships over a few drinks at the Coolum SLC.

Finals Day is Sunday. It’s expected that the presentations will be early Sunday afternoon followed by tales of grandeur at the Coolum Beach Hotel.

Every competitor in a division with more than 20 participants will surf a minimum of two heats. We want to provide as much water time as we can for everyone.

Points will be awarded to the bodysurfing club of each individual that makes the semi-finals and finals. One of the principle aims of The Coolum Wedge is to promote diversity and inclusion to the sport of bodysurfing, so to that end all divisions will score equal points. The club with the highest points tally from all divisions will be announced as Wedge Champion Whomp Club.

Points will be awarded per division as follows:

1st        11

2nd       8

3rd        6

4th        5

5th        3

7th        1

Festival Site will be overlooking the beach at Tickle Park, located just behind the skate board park and about 150m north of Coolum SLSC. It’s also right next to the caravan park where many competitors stay and hang out.

Sunshine Coast airport is 14 km away from Coolum beach so an Uber ride is quick and easy. Once in Coolum, everything is within walking distance of the festival so you won’t need a car.

Absolutely. We will be following the guidelines as set out by the Queensland Department of Health to run an event that makes your safety a priority.

If the event needs to be cancelled due to a COVID Lockdown, we will:

Move the event to a new date in June, and

Give you the choice of a full refund or attending the event on the new date.

See the home page for details

To find the contest site just enter ‘Tickle Park Coolum Beach’ into maps. There is a large free public carpark adjacent to the competition site. If you are staying in Coolum, the main beach is within walking distance of practically all accommodation options.
